Critical care outreach teams (CCOT) offer intensive care skills to patients receiving care in locations outside the intensive care unit. According to NICE (2018), the main roles of the CCOT are:
Identifying and instituting treatment in patients who are deteriorating, either preventing admission to or ensuring timely admission to critical care.
Enabling discharges from critical care by supporting the continuing recovery of discharged patients on wards.
Ward staff education.
The EOECCN Outreach forum exists as a shared learning hub to drive an improvement in quality of care received by acutely unwelll adults, providing direction for the ongoing development and provision of outreach services within the region.
